On 11 March 2026, the Inception Meeting for Output 4: Public-Private Partnership (PPP) of the ASEAN-JICA Food Value Chain Development Project (AJFVC) was held via video conference. The meeting was chaired by the ASEAN Secretariat and attended by delegates from the ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Agricultural Cooperatives (ASWGAC), JICA Headquarters, JICA Overseas Offices across the ASEAN region, and the AJFVC Expert Team.
During the meeting, Shingo Kikuchi of SK Consulting LLC, a JICA Consultant who is responsible for implementing activities related to formulating the PPP strategic policy to promote FVC in ASEAN region and delivered a presentation outlining the planned activities and methodology. A key highlight of the strategy is the application of a backcasting approach to develop more ASEAN region-specific, actionable, and resilient policy linkages. To provide practical context, several Japanese case studies were presented as references for ASEAN Member States (AMS) to consider. The AJFVC Expert Team looks forward to presenting the final policy recommendations and outcomes at the upcoming regional workshop in November 2026.
