From 1 to 4 October 2025, the ASEAN Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Experience Sharing Workshop was successfully held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, bringing together key stakeholders in the agricultural sector to exchange insights and strategies for promoting sustainable farming practices. Organized by the AJFVC in collaboration with key partners from Thailand, the event highlighted the strong support for agricultural initiatives across the region.

The workshop served as a platform to showcase Thailand’s efforts in implementing GAP. It highlighted government initiatives and contributions from universities, specifically focusing on Chiang Mai, where the dissemination of GAP is being advanced through collaboration among the public and private sectors, as well as various industries.

Representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMSs) attended the workshop, gaining valuable insights from resource persons affiliated with relevant agricultural departments. Insight contributions came from officials of Thailand’s National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS), Department of Agriculture (DOA) and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE), along with local representatives from the Farmer’s Market in Chiang Mai.

Key topics discussed included the certification processes for farmers, various quality control measures, and the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to effectively advance agricultural practices. The workshop also addressed the use of the ASEAN GAP logo and the Social Media-Based Promotion Strategy for GAP. It emphasized the need for consistent branding in promotional materials and events, as well as the importance of raising awareness and involving Food Business Operators (FBOs) in future plans.

Each representative from the AMSs presented their respective National Action Programs, highlighting the progress of GAP in enhancing food safety and promoting sustainable agricultural development within the region. Building on their respective national experiences, the participants engaged in in-depth discussions and collaboratively refined the Draft ASEAN Action Program for the Marketing and Promotion of ASEAN GAP to better reflect practical implementation across AMSs.
