From April 22 to 24, 2025, the Second Task Force Meeting aimed at shaping the Post-2025 Strategic Framework for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry (FAF) within ASEAN took place in Langkawi, Malaysia, bringing together representatives from ASEAN member states and key external partners.
Organized by the ASEAN Secretariat in collaboration with GIZ and Aus4ASEAN Futures, the event gathered nearly 100 key stakeholders, including representatives of international organizations, NGOs, reserch institutes, and representatives from all the ASEAN Member States together with Timor Leste. The primary goal of the meeting was to refine draft three essential policy documents: the Food, Agriculture, and Forestry Sectoral Plan (FAF-SP) for 2026-2030, the ASEAN Declaration on the Vision for Food, Agriculture, and Forestry Towards 2045, and the ASEAN Framework for Cooperation in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry Towards 2045.
These ASEAN documents, addressing emerging challenges such as climate change, decarbonization, and digitalization while promoting sustainable and regenerative practices in the food, agriculture, and forestry sectors, will be crucial references enhancing the cooperation in the sector after 2025.
As an external partner, AJFVC took the opportunity to present the project progress and plans and expressed its intention to ensure alignment with the policy direction of the FAF sector in ASEAN. This meeting marks an important milestone in laying a solid foundation for addressing opportunities for developing FAF in the region.
