From October 6 to 8, 2025, the AJFVC GAP team visited Cambodia to advance pilot activities promoting the Cambodia National Good Agricultural Practices (CamGAP). The team engaged in on-site observations and interviews at a certified GAP farm and with a wholesaler recognized for distributing “Safe Vegetables,” including products certified under CamGAP.

During the visit, the team explored market stores in Phnom Penh to evaluate where these certified products are sold. A significant challenge identified was the limited visibility of CamGAP-certified items, as few products displayed the CamGAP logo or QR codes that provide additional information. This indicates a need to enhance the visibility of these certified products to improve consumer awareness of GAP standards.

Discussions with local counterparts led to the identification of potential pilot activities aimed at addressing this visibility issue. As a result, plans are underway for training sessions tailored specifically for Food Business Operators (FBOs) and for a consumer-oriented event designed to effectively promote CamGAP.

Khmer cuisine, known for its abundant use of a wide variety of vegetables, suggests a strong consumer demand for safe produce. While the planning phase of pilot activities is still in progress, the team is working closely together to ensure the success of these initiatives.
